Caroline Lawrence announces the winners of the 2008 Children's Poetry Prize
Through The Roman Mysteries Caroline Lawrence draws readers into the world of Ancient Rome following the stories of Flavia, a young Roman girl and her closest friends. At this, Caroline’s first ever event at Jewish Book Week, she unravels some Roman Mysteries and talks about The Slave Girl from Jerusalem through which we are offered a glimpse of the Jewish world of 80 AD.
Caroline Lawrence studied Classical Archeology and then an MA in Hebrew and Jewish Studies. In 2000 she wrote The Thieves of Ostia , the first in a series of children's adventure stories set in Ancient Rome. The series has won numerous awards and has been translated into twenty languages. The Roman Mysteries has also been made into a TV series (most expensive British children's TV series to date at £1million per hour!)
