Round Table Discussion: Israel at 60, coming of age.

A lively debate which will go beyond the current issues and will look at at some of the really major questions that can only be approached with a sense of perspective: antisemitism and islamophobia, paralleled by hatred of Israel and fear of the Arab world; the multiplication of diasporas as a result of globalization; the growth of fundamentalism and ultra-orthodoxy; powerlessness and empowerment.
There will be ample time for questions from the audience.

Louise Ellman is a current member of the Transport Select Committee, a Vice President of the Local Government Association and a Board member of Liverpool Capital of Culture.

She is Chair of Labour’s Regeneration Group; Joint Secretary of the All Party Parliamentary Group Against Trafficking. the Chair of the Jewish Labour Movement and Vice Chair of Labour Friends of Israel and has been an active spokeswoman in Parliament on issues relating to transport, local government and the Middle East.

Jonathan Freedland is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and novelist.

Sari Nusseibeh is the president of Al Quds University.

David Cesarani is research professor in history at Royal Holloway, University of London and an expert on modern Jewish history.
