The Doctor in the House

 

 

Famously, Jonathan Miller can turn his hand and astonishing brain to anything. Always entertaining, and invariably instructive, the redoubtable raconteur will reveal his passions and betes noires to Mark Lawson 

 

 

Jonathan Miller was born in London in 1934 and educated at St Paul’s and St. John’s, Cambridge where he read Natural Sciences, later qualifying as a doctor. Making his acting debut in the Cambridge Footlights and springing instantly to fame at the Edinburgh Festival, in Beyond the Fringe, Jonathan Miller has had a versatile career as actor, satirist, broadcaster, writer and both theatre and opera director. Most recently, he has added sculpting and metal welding to his list of accomplishments.   

Mark Lawson is a journalist, broadcaster and author. He presents BBC Radio 4's arts magazine Front Row. He has been a freelance contributor to numerous publications since 1984 and a Guardian columnist since 1995. In the mid-90s he presented The Late Show on BBC2 and has presented The Late Review since 1994. He has twice been voted TV critic of the Year and has won numerous awards for arts journalism.
