Chez Elles

The award-winning author of Five Photos of My Wife and Chez Moi talks to Claudia Roden about her passions for writing and cooking and how they complement each other, about translating and being translated, about love, motherhood and the pursuit of happiness.

Agnes Desarthe is an award-winning French novelist and a literary translator. Five Photos of My Wife was short-listed for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize and the Jewish Quarterly Fiction Prize. Her latest novel in English is Chez Moi.

Claudia Roden revolutionised Western attitudes to the cuisines of the Middle East. Her interest in the social and historical background of cooking makes all her award-winning books fascinating and her Book of Jewish Food essential.
