Writing to Change the World

Here are three writers not afraid to tackle serious issues: racism and homophobia, the right to die, the meaning of art, the absurdity of cycles of vengeance, faith and religion - and much more. Their novels are gripping, generous and thought provoking.  They will discuss the role of literature and its impact on our lives.

Michael Arditti, a regular book reviewer and occasional art critic, was also formerly a theatre director and playwright. He is the author of Easter, Unity and Sea Change. The Enemy of the Good is his sixth novel.

Amanda Craig was born in South Africa, and brought up in Italy and Britain. She is the author of six novels. Hearts and Minds is a sequel to both A Vicious Circle and Love in Idleness. She is a reviewer and broadcaster, and the children's book critic forTheTimes.

Moris Farhi was born in Turkey. He is a celebrated playwright and screenwriter, and the author of Children of the Rainbow, Young Turk, Journey Through the Wilderness and his latest novel, A Designated Man. He has chaired the Writers in Prison programme for both English and International PEN. 

Nina Caplan is Arts Editor of Time Out. She has also worked at The European, Metro and The Guardian, editing and writing on books, film, art, music, theatre and food and drink. Which keeps her pretty busy.
