Rabbinical Creativity

In his three volume work, The Sages, Rabbi Lau vividly describes how the Rabbis of the Talmud developed novel interpretations of Jewish law which could successfully navigate an ever-changing reality.

He will discuss with Dr. Raphael Zarum whether today's religious establishment apparently considers that reality should be adapted to conform to religious law and what can be done to revive the innovative spirit of the Sages.

Rabbi Dr.Binyamin Lau is a Jerusalem based community leader and social activist. He also lectures at Beit Morasha in Jerusalem on Jewish law and social justice.

Dr Raphael Zarum is the Dean of London School of Jewish Studies. A graduate of Israel’s Mandel Leadership Institute, he also has an MA in adult education and a PhD in theoretical physics. He is the creator of the Torah L’Am crash course and author of The Jampacked Bible.
