Sue Eckstein: Interpreters

Sue Eckstein talks about her devastating and wonderfully understated novel following the stories of three generations of women from wartime Germany to today. Interweaving universal themes – the nature of identity, the meaning of family, the emotional legacy of the past – Interpreters magnificently unravels the impact of a war that resonates across four generations.

Sue Eckstein is a lecturer in Clinical and Biomedical Ethics, as well as being a novelist and playwright. Her first novel, The Cloths of Heaven, was made into a Woman’s Hour Drama in 2010 and her second, The Interpreters, was published in 2011.
