Jerry White’s award-winning Rothschild Buildings: Life
in an East End
Tenement Block 1887-1920 (1980, re-issued 2003) is a
fascinating evocation of the Jewish East End combining social history with
powerful personal testimony.
In this session, Jerry White played recordings of some of
the original interviews that he conducted when writing Rothschild Buildings:
Life in an East End
Tenement Block 1887-1920 and revealed some fascinating stories
behind episodes in the book. The audience also shared their reflections and
recollections of life in the Jewish East End.
