BOOK LAUNCH
In Imperfect Justice (2003)
Stuart Eizenstat recounts the
inside story of the global mission
he spearheaded throughout
the 1990s to bring belated
justice to the victims of the
Holocaust. To mark the UK
launch of this controversial book,
he reveals how the
Holocaust became a political
and diplomatic battleground
fifty years after the end of the
war, as the issues of dormant
bank accounts, slave labour,
confiscated property, looted
art and unpaid insurance
policies convulsed Europe
and America.
Stuart E Eizenstat served as Under
Secretary of State and Deputy
Secretary of the Treasury in the Clinton
Administration from 1993-2001, and led
its efforts on Holocaust-related issues.
The Rt. Hon. Stephen Sedley is a Lord
Justice of Appeal and President of
the British Institute of Human Rights.
His 1998 Hamlyn Lectures have been
published as Freedom, Law and
Justice (1999).
