David Abulafia is Professor of Mediterranean History at Cambridge University and a fellow of Gonville and Caius. His widely acclaimed books include: The Two Italies, Frederic IIA Mediterranean Emporium and, most recently, The Great Sea: A Human History of the Mediterranean.
