Kassabova wins Travel Book of YFriday, February 2, 2018by JBW
JBW 2018 author Kapka Kassabova has won the 2018 Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year Award at the Stanfords Travel Writers Festival, in partnership with The Authors' Club.
Kassabova will discuss her book Border, in which she sets out on a journey to meet the people of the borderzone between Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece, and the latest wave of refugees fleeing conflict further afield, in an event with Tim Marshall and Adam LeBor at this year's Jewish Book Week.
Sara Wheeler, Chair of Judges for the Stanford Dolman Award said: "Border stood out for the judges because of the author’s old-fashioned gift for storytelling, her beautiful prose, and the topicality of the subject as Europe stands once more on the cusp of change. We think it is an important book."
Receiving her prize, Kassabova thanked her editor Laura Barber and "the people of the border who gave me their stories."
