Claudia Roden The Food of Italy
Tuscany has never been closer to King’s Cross. Claudia Roden, a sell-out speaker at the festival with The Food of Spain in 2012, returns to talk about an important update of her classic The Food of Italy, 25 years after it was first published. The history of Italian-Jewish cooking will be a highlight of Roden’s presentation of this appetising culinary tour of Italy.
Claudia Roden was born in Cairo. She writes cookery books with a special interest in the social, historical and cultural background of the food. The publication of A Book of Middle Eastern Food in 1968 is said to have revolutionised Western attitudes to the cuisines of the Middle East and North Africa. She went on to specialise in Mediterranean, Italian, Jewish and Spanish food. Her books have won many awards. The Book of Jewish Food won eight international awards.
